Forbidden Cinema 84 - Red Shoe Diaries - Talk to Me, Baby

Ok, guys, this show has redeemed itself with this episode.  We were on board, and then last week really turned us off.  We open in a dive bar on a wet t-shirt contest, hop in a super 90s muscle car, and then listen to 30 minutes of a guy in a mullet try to convince a woman to love him without stopping so long as to take a breath.
Stay with us, here.  This sounds ridiculous, but somehow they manage to make it work.  Fire up Tubi, watch this episode, and come on the journey with us.  Everyone in this episode is a maniac in all the best ways.

Whoa boy... here we go... buckle up and pull over, people (wait does that even make sense, why bother buckling up if you are pulling over, oh well).  Guys we are venturing in the the sexy, erotic themes of police misconduct???  This thing is wild and has aged... poorly.
This episode stars Denise Crosby of Star Trek TNG fame as a police officer who names off every male body part imaginable for 5 minutes and then kidnaps and assaults a guy because he doesn't notice her.

We had so much "fun" watching an episode of Red Shoe Diaries for our last episode that we decided to spend a quick mini-season watching this early 90s erotic anthology show hosted by David Duchovny at the same time he was making the X-Files.  How are those words even a thing.
Join us as we watch the first episode, Safe Sex, which starts out as a second draft of 9 1/2 Weeks and then just gets weird.  Laughs abound, there are tears on screen, and Zack gets a little hot under the collar.

Forbidden Cinema 81 - Red Shoe Diaries - s1e02 Double Dare

Alright people, it is time to get 90s horny.
That's right, Zack just left streaming on upstairs and the algorithm decided that we should watch Red Shoe Diaries.  Did we mention that David Duchovny was in 6 seasons of this weekly erotica show at the same time he was in the X-Files.  That is a thing that happened.
Get ready for sexy fax machines, ladies starting to wear black underwear, lots of pearls, the freaking Mummy!, sax music, and Stella who is such a good girl.
Do yourself a favor.  Fire up Tubi (I'm pretty sure it is legit) and watch a couple of episodes.  They are 30 minutes and kind of sexy in a weird way if you can get over the fast food commercials.  This is everything Forbidden Cinema is all about.

Welcome back as we look at the questions nobody thought to ask about National Lampoon's Vacation.  We find out more about the careers of the child actors that I could ever have imagined.  BDA's (Beverly D'Angelo) history is so much more interesting than we would have figured.  And we hit tangents on everything from Conan the Barbarian to Mr Mom.

Pull over, folks... Zack has never seen this movie.  We watched the original Vacation from back in 1983.  Hold on, this movie has 80s racism, jokes about gun violence, animal cruelty, policing in need of reform, a lady we know only as a classic holiday film mom whipping her boobs out, cigarette machines, Harold Ramis as the voice of a moose, Anthony Michael Hall, Chevy Chase being mostly likable, a custom car build to be specifically ugly American, and a variety of roadside set pieces all across the American Southwest.
We get a classic road trip comedy, with a surprising amount of similarity to the script of Planes, Trains and Automobiles and we have a blast going along with the family.  We also see the groundwork set for arguably the more successful Christmas Vacation.  Hot take... Is that the best sequel ever filmed?

Greetings everyone.  Sorry for the silence for a few weeks.  We hope your holidays were amazing, but if they were a nightmare like ours, we feel for you.  Ours were full of overwork, family drama, sick pets, and another round of COVID-19.  Nowhere to go but up from here.

Welcome to our Holiday Season kickoff episode that is dropping on New Years.  It is amazing how optimistic we are about how our work, life, and families are not going to be a living nightmare.  Well, that didn't happen. 
Anyhoo, come back with us to 1984 as we watch and discuss the Spielburg, Collumbus, Dante collaboration, Gremlins.  This movie brings Zack back to so many specific places and times, but it is the first time Jenny has ever seen it.  Join us as we talk about this classic small town holiday creature feature with one of the cutest puppets ever made.
