Forbidden Cinema 50 - Showgirls

For our 50th episode join the hosts as we tackle our most requested, and probably the most forbidden of the 90s.  Guys, this thing is wild.  If you had asked me what this was before I saw it, I would have said the guys who made Basic Instinct got back together with a lot of drugs and hired the girl from Saved By The Bell to spend 1/3 of the movie nude in a spectacle of flesh and grit/glam of Vegas.  I think that is exactly what we got, but we aren't quite sure if that is what we needed.

Join us as we go through it.  We hit on the highs and lows and everything in between.  How many podcasts have the guts to talk about Good Morning Miss Bliss and David Lynch's Dune in the same breath.  We try to get to the bottom of the performances, was it insane writing, directing, acting, or all of the above.  Or is there something we are missing?  Is there a magic here that is just hard to see on first viewing.

There's rhinestones everywhere.  There are boobs even more places.  There are switchblades, monkeys, and Garth Brooks.  Did we mention Robert Davi is in it?  We have David Bowie on the soundtrack and we wonder about how stripper poles are sanitized.
